The BMS Static Spiker is a robust, straightforward tool designed to get air, water, and nutrients into compacted turf. Ideal for treating worn spots and preparing areas for overseeding, its 28 solid spikes effectively alleviate surface compaction. For added versatility, the spike heads can be removed, allowing the base to be used as a tamper.

For targeted aeration and surface relief, the Static Spiker is a simple, robust tool that every greenkeeper or groundsman should have to hand. It’s designed for those jobs where a larger machine is overkill, like treating compacted turf on walkways, around greens, or in high-traffic sports areas.

The simple push-down design uses your body weight to drive 28 solid steel spikes into the ground, creating channels for air and water to reach the rootzone. This helps to alleviate surface compaction and improves the uptake of fertilisers and top dressings. It’s also an excellent tool for preparing small, bare patches for overseeding, creating a good seedbed with minimal effort.

Manufactured by us in the UK, the all-steel construction is powder-coated for durability and built to withstand the rigours of daily use on the course or pitch. We’ve also designed it with a practical secondary use in mind: by removing the spike heads, the tool can be flipped and used as a tamper. This is perfect for firming up new turf plugs or levelling small repair areas, saving you from carrying another tool around. It’s a classic example of a simple tool, built properly, to do a job well.

How It Works

  • Position the Static Spiker over the area of compacted turf.
  • Place your foot on the bar and apply firm, downward pressure to push the spikes into the soil.
  • Lift the spiker straight up to avoid damaging the turf.
  • Repeat as needed across the target area.
  • To use as a tamper, unscrew and remove the spike heads, then use the flat base to firm down turf repairs.
