The BMS Weasel Tool is a robust hand tool for targeted turf aeration. It de-compacts soil to 1.5 inches, improving air and moisture penetration for healthier grass and successful overseeding. Ideal for worn areas and loosening compacted sand around bunkers.
When you need to de-compact small areas without bringing in heavy machinery, the Weasel Tool Head is the answer. Designed and made in our UK workshop, it’s a practical hand tool for cultivating hard-packed soil. The sharp, angled tines work the ground to a depth of 1.5 inches (around 38mm), breaking it into a fine tilth.
This process is essential for improving drainage and aeration in worn-out turf. By opening up the soil structure, you create the perfect seedbed for successful overseeding and repairs. Greenkeepers also find it particularly useful for tackling the compacted edges of sand bunkers, keeping them playable and looking sharp.
The Weasel’s design is simple and effective. It’s built to last from solid steel and attaches to our standard BMS handles (sold separately). While it looks similar to our Hedgehog tool, the Weasel is specifically designed for cultivating and breaking up soil, whereas the Hedgehog is better for surface aeration and removing debris. A tough, reliable tool for everyday turf care.
Specifications:
Does this come with a handle?
No, this is for the Weasel tool head only. It’s designed to fit our standard range of handles, which can be purchased separately.
What’s the difference between the Weasel and the Hedgehog?
The Weasel is designed for deeper cultivation, breaking up compacted soil to create a tilth for seeding. The Hedgehog is a surface-level tool, better for light aeration, removing thatch, and clearing debris.
Can I use this on clay soil?
Yes, it’s effective on most soil types, including heavy clay. Its primary job is to break up compaction, whatever the cause.
